O'Reilly Tools of Change for Publishing and Author (R)evolution Day
TOC + its new conference-within-a-conference for entrepreneurial writers
Tools of Change (TOC, #TOCcon) takes place on February 13 and 14, 2013, with a day of workshops on February 12. Author (R)evolution Day (#ARDay) is a new one-day conference-within-a-conference from the thought leaders at Tools of Change and Publishers Weekly held on that February 12 parallel to the workshops. Author Day is designed specifically for professional authors, content creators, agents, and independent author service providers who want to move beyond “Social Media 101” to a more robust dialogue about the opportunities in today’s rapidly shifting landscape. From the evolving value propositions of traditional publishing to emerging best practices for entrepreneurial content creators, this out-of-the-box conference tackles the issues head-on. No matter if you want to explore new routes to market, are interested in the latest tools, or need straight talk from some of the most visionary minds in publishing, this event will revolutionize your thinking about the future of authorship and your own business in the digital age.

The same back office systems underpin a whole raft of other enhancements to conference attendance – interactive attendee lists, personal session planning, the conference app and more. Book publishers have lessons to learn from O’Reilly about using data to add value.

WRITING ON THE ETHER: Authors Have Their Day
Author (R)evolution Day is something I’m proud to be a part of. I want to commend O’Reilly Media’s Joe Wikert and Kat Meyer and their co-chair from the sponsoring Bookigee and WriterCube, Kristen McLean for putting this event together. I came out of Digital Book World and Tools of Change last year, writing about my frustration that such industry-class events for authors were nowhere to be seen. O’Reilly stepped up to the challenge and has created just that. We owe them our thanks. This event, at Times Square’s Marriott Marquis, is loaded with prime personalities and it’s designed with depth and insight.
